Chase online down – 4 pm PT/7 pm ET update
More comments from Chase’s spokesman, Tom Kelly:
The bank will work with any customers who had online bill payment deadlines they couldn’t meet because of the outage, Kelly said.
We’ve had one customer report in the comments that an incoming ACH transfer was successful, but according to Kelly’s statements, we can assume there are problems with online bill payments. It might be a good idea to contact your payees or make other arrangements (like a good old fashioned check in the mail).
Again in summary from our 1 pm PT/4 pm ET update, branches, ATM’s and telephone banking are operational although telephone banking still has a considerable wait.
In another statement Tom Kelly says:
The cause of the outage isn’t clear, Kelly said. “It’s a technical issue that we’re dealing with.”
So, clearly they won’t be able to give any estimate on when the online banking might be back up.
If anyone is interested, this is the contact information I found for Chase’s spokesman:

I sent an email to Thomas Kelly asking how it could be down this long and in 30 seconds received this reply below. He must have auto-reply turned on.
We apologize and are working very hard on it.

This is a conspiracy by Chase, they are colluding to run up the market on low volume and don’t want their customers to be able to place sell orders on their brokerage accounts. This is in retaliation for upcoming federal regulations reducing their ability to short sell securities they don’t hold. JPMorgan is the single largest holder of short silver positions.

You might have a point except that you can still place trade orders over the phone or at a Chase office.

Wall Street Journal has the story (software flaw), Chase expects service restored tonight.

I asked if this happens often and when the site will be back up. I got this reply rather quickly:
This is very unusual and we apologize.
