What You Can Do

If you have a problem with Chase and they are not being reasonable, here are some suggestions.  You might want to do them all. 🙂

First and foremost, document everything you do with them, including dates and times, and detailed notes about who/what/where.  If you want to record your phone conversations with Chase, please read this first.

Second, file complaints with consumer organizations, like the Better Business Bureau or your states consumer affairs agency.  For instance, here is California’s Department of Consumer Affairs.

Third, contact the consumer affairs person at your local TV station or newspaper.  This is absolutely one of the most effective means of getting a big company like Chase to change their tune.

Fourth, try contacting some upper-level management types at Chase through the contact information here.

Last, file a complaint with Chase Banks regulator.  Here is information on Chase’s regulator(s).

The same thing happened with us. We worked with Chase for about a year and they finally came up with a plan for a $100.00 less per month for the life of the loan. Wonderful right? It is except for the $93,000.00 Balloon payment due at the end. This is typical Obama BS. Yes he is the savior, stay in your homes. He will not tell you the dirty little secrets that go along with this.

If you ever get your debit card compromised, and are a Chase customer BE prepared to chase them around in circles! You think you would get your money back right away but you do not. Thieves stole thousands of dollars from our bank account before Chase caught it and called us. According to Chase you have to wait until the transactions actually go through their system out of pending status in which could take up to a week or longer!? Their customer service line is absolutely clueless! Still trying to get all of money back but each day I log in it shows that some of those transactions just fell off and nowhere to be found. MAKE COPIES of everything thank goodness I originally made a copy of all the Fraud charges so I have the proof! Huge pain in the butt to be without a single penny for over a week and who knows when we will get our money back.

I worked for Chase for over 13 years until they unjustly fired me on Dec. 11, 2007( 2 weeks before Christmas) I was one of their best salesman ,making the Leadership Club ( top 10% in sales in USA ) 4 years in a row. I was on track to make it again in 2007. I brought up a claim of age discrimination in June 2007 and Chase found a trumped up charge to get be out. I was 59 years old at the time and my wife was ill with Parkinson’s and dementia. It was the stress of my long term unemployment that advanced my wife’s illness and lead to her death at age 66 years old this passed Aug. 2010.

Chase has ruined my credit through their loan modification program and I am unable to get a refi on my current Chase loan which is at 6 and 3/4 percent. I am ready to get on board any class action lawsuit available for those of us who live in California.

  • By DavidF, January 6, 2011 @ 11:35 pm

Same thing here. I have tried to get a loan modification with Chase. Just as hard as trying to catch paranormal activity with scientific instruments. You do everything they ask. They keep pushing you to next month. Hounding you. Asking for the same shit month after month. Ya’ll know the story. And, all this time they tell you not to worry about it, everything is ok, then they give you a foreclosure notice. Mine is 2-1-2011. Anyone, I’m ready for a class action lawsuit in Texas, but I will probably just sue them individually. I have tracked everything certified mail and recorded phone conversations with the above bullshit in them. Well, I’ll try to remember to keep you up-to-date. But, they are dishonest and lying sons-of-bitches. Pieces of shit. I don’t understand their reasoning when the property is went from $125k loan value to maybe $70s or $80k. No way to get back much if they foreclose. Stupid as a bib on Shrek. Can’t believe their thinking.

Similar story to teh one above by Annie C. Our credit is ruined and we can’t get refinance which we need urgently.
Has anyone found a solution to it?

In Kentucky here and facing all the same problems everyone else is on loan mods. Found a couple of good stories going on. A Chase Bank protest by the UAW in Louisville and a guy’s first hand experience with trying to get a loan mod from Chase. Nationwide class-action lawsuit should be done on these creeps.

I left Chase for WAMU and ended up back at Chase, Chase does not respect the fact that the money in my accounts is mine. They charge fees I have never incurred before for things I didn’t sign up for they quietly deleted the money in my savings and charged my checking a punishment fee for having no money in the account…
I cloed the savings in protest and a few months later they have started taking money again…I am going to fight for my money this afternoon…
its only 12 bucks but its my 12 bucks and if they do it to a million people its 12 million bucks, I figure a thousand might catch it and a few hundred will do something about it there fore they make millions

  • By coakl, April 11, 2011 @ 10:45 pm

To Charles AtLarge: the $12 monthly fee is going to be your new FRIEND. It’s part of the conversion of all WaMu Free Checking accounts on Feb. 8, 2011. You and millions of other Americans now have F-E-E checking, not Free Checking.

If you can’t meet the requirements to waive the fee, you’re gonna get charged. Look at the booklet that you should have received in November/December announcing the changes.

Chase wants wealthy people as clients. They no longer want the lower income folks that WaMu targeted because these people are no longer profitable. Doubly so, if you can’t afford to keep high balances in your accounts.

Trust me: the best Chase account is a closed account. Run away as fast as you can from this evil bank. Go look for an honest credit union.

  • By rich, June 18, 2011 @ 6:43 pm

Let me start off by saying that I have a impeccable financial history and 760+ credit score. I recently moved from Western NY to NYC and needed to switch banks, so I opened up a basic checking account through chase.com. Gravy. I set up my username and password and linked my chase credit card that I had from before to my new checking account. Again, gravy. A few days later I try to access my account, but it is blocked and says to call an 888 number. I do and am told that my checking account was restricted for some unknown reason and that I had to go into a branch with two forms of ID to straighten things out–which I do. The branch manager tries to help me figure out what’s going on. He get bounced around the system when he calls cust. service for half an hour while I sit there twiddling my thumbs. I swear I heard him give his credentials and reason why he’s calling at least 4 times. Eventually, he hangs up and informs me that chase does not wish to do business with me and that they don’t have to tell me why. Ok, I’m fine with that even though I could not fathom a reason why. I’ve never missed a CC payment, never declared bankruptcy, never been arrested, etc. Oh, I should mention that I made a $1500 deposit upon opening my new account with chase from my Discover savings account. When I asked when I would get my money back, he told me that I should be getting a check in the mail within 5 -7 days. Fine. A week goes by. Surprise, surprise, no check. Now I discover my access to my credit card account is also restricted, which I was told was fine when I asked the manager about it when I was at the branch. I call again. They tell me to go back into the branch, which I do. Same guy. Same bouncing around, but this time for over an HOUR. Apparently no one knew where the hell my $1500 was and know had the authority to reset my user ID and pw for my CC. I went into the branch at 2:50pm and came out at 4pm. In the end I was kicked out of the branch because it was past closing hours, and I walked out with zero answers.
I am praying that I will see that check in the mail before I have to go to the branch for another session of hell on Monday. I could not care less about my chase CC now. I just paid of my balance over the phone and am putting it away. I would cancel it out of spite, but thought it wiser not to because I don’t want to end up lowering my credit score b/c of this insanity.

Utterly ridiculous! I can say for certain that I will NEVER go anywhere NEAR chase EVER. I’d rather be shot in the stomach and die a slow death than give these idiots my money.

The day after my first hell session, I went over to Citibank, which I should have done in the first place, and had my checks/card in my hands within 5 days.

Wow. Recounting this story really ticks me off. Kudos for those of you who made it through to the end and long live Citibank!

Same problem as everyone else with the loan mods. Lies and deceit. Ruined my credit so I can’t get a refi with anybody else. TWO YEARS! submitting and re-submitting the same stuff. They finally gave me a “modification” except they RAISED my payment $115 a month. Didn’t change the rate or the term. Just capitalized my unpaid interest and upped the payment and then told me I should be happy to get a loan mod at all. I had Great Western, then I got Wamu, then I woke up one morning and there was Chase. My husband warned me to drop them the minute they took over. oh, how I wish I had listened. I’m ready to sign up for any class action lawsuits anybody’s got going in Florida.

  • By Ash, October 12, 2011 @ 1:08 pm

Long story short I began asking for help around the end of 2008 when Obama “emplemented” this plan. Like everyone else for a year I sent in paper, after paper, after paper. I stopped making payments and moved out November 2009. They continued to tell me their was a sell date and well I finally got in touch with their lawyers and they say they are waiting on Chase for paper work and it could be another 90 days before it even goes to foreclosure?? My credit was perfect before and I am never late on ANY of my bills, but they just wouldn’t help me. Not to mention it is a VA loan through my ex hudband.

My wife and I purchased our home in 06 ,we ended up going with an 80 20 loan with chase. Later we found out that chase sold 80% of the loan to us bank. Unfortunately for us the remaining 20% is with chase. In the 6 plus years we have had this loan which started at $40000 is now down to just $38000.. How is this possible sounds like a raw deal to me especially at 9% interest..any advice would be much appreciated..

  • By Wendy, February 21, 2012 @ 2:32 pm

My widowed mother and I refinanced my dead fathers house together. HUD told us that we had been victims of predatory lending from Chase, and Chase refused to tell us who actually owned the paper on our house. So we “worked” with Chase on a modification. Every month for TWO YEARS we called them and asked the status. They said we were approved, and would get the paperwork any now. Then we would get something in the mail saying we had failed to provide requested documentation…which we always had! Then, after almost two years, and repeatedly sending documentation and being told we were approved, we received a rejection letter in the mail. They claimed on the paperwork my mother made 20% more than her fixed social security income actually is, and that is a standard practice. We were told that we had to accept the new contract or we would lose our home. My house is almost 40 years old, and is not that great to begin with, but we are now paying $2500 a month which is interest only at 9% for the first 10 years, and then at the end of 30 years we owe a $320,000 balloon payment. I cannot default on my loan, or I will lose my job – and I have lost the possibility of promotions because the modification ruined my credit. $2500 is more than 60% of our monthly income, and I didnt think they were allowed to do that either! WE cannot refi because our credit is destroyed, and they put a $50,000 prepayment penalty for 10 years, plus the balloon payment! IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OUT THERE FOR COLORADO, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Chase doesn’t even pay someone to answer their phones. If they get too busy at some of the branches, they just let it go to a voice messaging system (in hopes, probably, that the customer will jugst “go away”). GIVE ME A BREAK! This is just an indicator of the quality of “customer service” they provide.

I have been travelling internationally for several months. Prior to my trip, I provided my banker with a list of places and dates so that I could still use my cards abroad. He said that everything would be fine.

So why were my cards promptly cancelled after my first transaction abroad, I wonder. Without contacting me, Chase issued a new card to my address in the States, and claimed that my current card was compromised (it wasnt).

I called and got the run-around, but after spending all day on the phone, I got my card reactivated. The next day I attempted to make a transaction, and my card was swallowed by the ATM, citing that the card had been marked lost or stolen.

In order to retrieve my card from the foreign bank, I needed Chase to send a fax saying it was OK. But of course, Chase doesnt do that sort of thing because they dont have the right form.

So here I am right now, stranded in a foreign country, with no access to my money to pay for food, accommodation, transit or a flight home. I have been reduced to relying on the kindness of strangers in order not to starve. All because this bank is staffed with people of baffling, incredible incompetence.

The Chase Bank Located in 8418 Bay Parkway in Brooklyn New York is Manipulating and Regulating the Guards duties and demands Security Officers not Greet Customers because according to the Branch Manager his employees will not Greet these customers after Security has Saudi Good Morning back..when I asked he said because their Stupid.
Additionally this manager monopolies its security by calling the contractors office and complaining that the Security Officer isn’t confirming with his “Regulations and he invents an excuse to have whom ever he wants removed.
Number one it is customary to greet people and I would be a scumbag if I where to not respond , Second The role of an Security Officer Licensed by D.OS. is to observe ,report & deter hw wants Guards to stand five Nine and Half hours in the same spot and not observing the ATM area because according to him it makes customers nervous .. first of all we are not a liaison of Chase and wouldn’t engage in monetary handling of any ones money or private accounts. This Dictator who thinks he can Regulate the Security Industry and his Assistant need to be removed and not be allowed to monopolize the Security Personal at any location. their names are as follows. Alex Zaturenskly and Tsz Yan Soo ..if they don’t like the way you tie your shoes your removed from their Kingdom …Incrediable .

I have a particularly awful tale about Chase.

In November 2012 my spouse was diagnosed with terminal cancer at age 31. Our financial situation was a daily struggle just to keep him cared for and have his meds on hand while he tried to battle Stage III Melanoma. All the while Chase was gouging us with the near usury-level fees for even the slightest transgression.

In June of 2013 we were in bad shape. I could not afford my partner’s chemo nor his pain meds. With the chemo we’d been told not to miss any doses (2x per day) or it could cease working for him. My family from out of town sent me an $8,000 check to cover expenses. We deposited it and Chase told us we would have access to the funds in 48 hours.

After 48 hours there were no funds. Chase told me that they’d put a special 10 day administrative hold on the check but would not tell me why. They were rude as hell, cold to the extreme and utterly unconcerned about our situation. My partner now was out of his meds, in searing pain and without chemo. My family sent me a printout from their bank showing the funds had cleared. Chase pretended not to see it or just ignored it entirely. I sent it 3x and they never even acknowledged it. And when I called every day and begged them to just release $300 to buy his meds, they said no. And they held that money, wrongly, for the full 10 business days without flinching.

My partner died on September 10, 2013.

And I believe wholeheartedly that Chase killed him just as surely as if they’d walked up and shot him.

As a thank you, 2 weeks after he died they closed my account and sent me a letter asking me to pay them $400 in fees so they don’t report me as a bad account risk.

Yeah, I wouldn’t pay them either. Never going to happen. I’m going to see if their CEO can be arrested for negigent homicide instead.

To one and all Hire Wade Miller, out of Los Angeles and sue them. They are an evil and awful bank.. Incredulous, they gave Detroit 100 million to re-build City made CBS News, but they can’t make all these complaints right. Whole body of the fish stinks from the head.

P.S. Create a Bumper Sticker that says “Chase-Sucks.com/org”.
I like to think there is a Hell for a lot of this corruption to the people.

We were told by Chase that we qualified for a HARP Loan. They said all we had to do was make $ 1.00 a year and have made our payments for the past 12 months. They said that it would help lower our interest rate. They talked us into paying an application fee of $625. Please do not fall for this. Then after months of us calling with no response, they say we withdrew from the loan. Now they say we did not qualify. Nothing changed about our situation to disqualify us. Please do not let them take your money…

  • By Eric, December 14, 2015 @ 12:44 pm

Made a mortgage payment to Chase via Western Union on 30th of month as per their (Chase’s) instructions. 5 days later payment not posted. Called Chase said they had not received it, that we needed to call Western Union. Called Western Union, gave tracking number, they said that Chase had indeed taken/picked up the money for the account noted. Called Chase back to inform them of this and they said they would open an investigation and that we would hear in 7-10 business days. 5 business days alter we get a call from an aggressive Chase agent wanting money. Informed her of what was going on. Guess they make no electronic notes on accounts as to what is going on. Get a letter several days later saying they cannot find the transaction for the 4th. that we need to contact Western Union again. REALLY?!?!? Chase was not even looking at the right date we gave them — 30th — nor the tracking number. Unbelievable. Now scrambling to call Western Union again and Chase again and tell them of THEIR error(s) again and see if they can get the date right.

JP Morgan Chase is the most horrific heartless bank out there.
They closed my mothers account without notice and reason. She is close to 90 and a holocaust survivor

Her social security and German pension checks were returned to their respective sources causing a great deal of effort to retrieve them. All of her auto pays were bounced and it was only because she had some spare cash at home that she did not go hungry. This was done with 2 days warning and additionally her accounts were frozen. She is also legally blind.
Nazi Germany behaved much the same way.
Chase is ruthless and will stay away from them for the rest of my life. Mind you my mother was an account holder with them for close to gift years.
A lot of good that did.

    They are despicable !!!!!
