Hello, my name is Dan and I have a story to share with the community that involves all of my family members and their Washington mutual checking/savings accounts. It started 2 days ago when my sisters and mother started experiencing declined debit/check transactions. Please note that everyone has their own checking/savings accounts but they are all linked to one another with a common name, my mothers. Upon calling the bank we discovered that my mothers account had been put on hold due to suspicious activities and she was instructed to call the fraud department. They wouldn't share any information with her regarding her account other than it had been "put on hold due to suspicious activities" and that "they have new policies since they changed ownership". No elaberation was made. My mother had been using this checking account for many years just like the rest of us. She has her direct deposit and automatic withdrawls coming out of there just like everyone else. No weird transactions were made. In fact the deposits and payees were made to the same companies and amounts that she has done dealings with for years. Garbage, water, sewer, house payments, Internet, etc. There is more... Everyone account that she had her name linked to (3 people total) were also put on hold. So now 4 people in my family have no access to their money or any way to pay bills. My poor mother is balling her eyes out right now. Power, water, house payments, car payments will all go unpaid for a long time. Wamu has placed a hold on the accounts until the 5th. This will be 2 weeks time. The worst part about this all is we all have direct deposits being put in so we cant switch banks because of the time it takes to change the direct deposits; hopefully wamu hasn't put us in check systems or were screwed. My mothers account is NOT negative, There is plenty of positive balances in all savings/checking accounts when they did this. They remain positive right now as well. Wamu is flat out denying every ones request to take out their money. Sure we could get a lawyer, but by the time he/she could do anything legal about it we should hopefully have our money back. Maybe someone in this community has some kind of idea or suggestion we have not thought about yet. As for now, my family is screwed financially. I fear the repercussions of wamus actions will extend far beyond the initial hit. As for now I am going to send this email out to several sites including the local news. Im sure nothing will come from this, but its worth a shot. My family and I feel we have been wronged by a company we had put our trust into. |
