Since October of 2007 I have been a Victim of Washington Mutual. I actually opened an account with them to get out from under the Zombie bank that is Chase... Who is 10 times worse! And had many problems with them Go figure, Then when I heard the news that Chase had Bought Wamu I knew I was going to have problems...
Now I get paid on a Wensenday every week and my money Is direct deposited into my checking between 1:07 am and 3:00 am now not including the balance prior to my deposit if I go spend any money before 3:00pm on that same day (This includes the money already in my account prior to the direct deposit) I get hit with an overdraft fee It could be as little as $2.00 I spend and within 5 minutes I get a text via Wamu's mobile banking that I have been charged with an Over draft fee of $34.00...
Their in branch Customer service is no help what so ever and always give me the line "Oh you opened your account online, You have to speak to an Online service rep".
Let me tell you the Online service reps are bigger Morons then the branch reps!.
I sit on the phone for 45 minutes each time going back and forth with a rep about how I had x amount in my account prior to whatever the deposit amount is which should not be a problem for me to spend my own money on getting something to drink!.
But of course they play dumb and then tell me That I have insufficiant funds to cover the amount I spent and that is why I was charged an overdraft fee.
Meanwhile The look at what I had in the account (Mind you this has happened more then once now I lost count after the 8th time) and even read back the balance I had but still claim their was no money in the account (Including my Direct deposit) but yet I can log onto my online account or send a BAL text to wamu mobile and see the current amount including the prior amount and the Direct deposit amount giving me say $5xx.xx as a balance of my checking.
But here's the real kicker anytime this happens they take money out of my savings to cover the money I spend which also hits me with a $12.00 overdraft transfer fee...
And if I make too many transfers between savings and Checking (to cover monthly bill payments when my checking gets low around $100.00) I get hit with another $10.00 fee for transfering money to my checking...
I am certianly looking for another bank that has a better reputation then the Chase/wamu two headed monster but in this current economy I highly doubt that is even possible on Staten Island where I live almost every bank has been taken over by another bigger, worser bank. Their are virtually no smaller banks left out here like their use to be... The only reason I have waited so long is because getting the HR person at my job to switch my Direct deposit to another bank sometimes takes two months... and on top of that I am still waiting for my State tax refund to be deposited (since feb 13 mind you but that's another story...)
And what's funny is Chase/Wamu expects me to activate the new replacement card from Chase... YEA RIGHT!!!! I hope to find another bank out here before a full change over, because I will not be under Chase's looming shadow of dispair again.
Chase Blows and Wamu Sucks!. They should be labeled whores instead of banks, because all they give you is an STD called Overdraft fees!
And I thought the credit card companies were bad...
