Your google tactic really works! Thanks for creating this website. Throughout my frustration with WAMU I have wondered how many other people go through the same type of frustration I do...and now I know.
I would like to explain my frustration in entirety but I have to save my typing fingers for the hours of documentation and follow-up I have to do to have WAMU refund my money from a fraudulently endorsed escrow account check. (LOL)
In a nutshell...
Someone stole an escrow refund check from my mail box and cashed it at a Chevy Chase Bank . I have done a Mail Theft Report, Police Report, Affidavit of Forgery, and dealt with both Washington Mutual (company that issued the check) and Chevy Chase Bank (company that cashed check) to pursue resolution of this matter.
I am owed almost $2000. I have made countless phone calls, emails, and faxes to WAMU representatives. As of today March 2009, I have not been refunded for this check and this has been going on for an entire year. I am not receiving any follow-up from anyone at WAMU. So far I have spoken with Customer Service, Fraud Mitigation, Western New York Office, and Florence, South Carolina office, Emailed Customer Service, Faxed Faxed letters to Fraud Mitigation, spoken with Contracts Adminstration, and the Escalation Department and apparently no one takes the situation seriously as I am no longer a customer of WAMU.
I have recently made complaints to Office of Thrift Supervision, which I understand from your website, may have been another waste of time. I made a complaint with my Attorney Generals Office of Consumer Protection. I have also made an online inquiry to the Federal Reserve Board.
I'd have to type for another hour to tell you all the STUPID assistance I have gotten from their customer assistance and other departments.
When I was a customer and I got laid off they wouldn't help me do a loan modification either, even though I had a substantial amount of money built up in equity. Now I hear on theie customer service hold message that with President Obama's new initiatives "we can help you with a loan modification at no charge" which further enrages me.
Any idea on how I can get them to pay up?
By the way, I called JP Morgan Chase and they were unwilling to help because they have not yet merged with WAMU and don't have access to their accounts. This put me in mind of WAMU with the operator not taking the time to hear the problem and simply trying to transfer me to someone else.
Again, I appreciate your website and thank you for providing a forum for me to vent.

The only thing you didn't mention is filing a BBB report/complaint. But then again, how much does a company that has the reputation for having probably the worst customer service in the industry care about BBB complaints. |
