Chase tip of the day – drive through vs ATM deposit
Rumor has it that if you make a deposit at a Chase branch through the drive through (or in branch?), there will be less of a hold placed on it than if you do the deposit through the ATM.

No substance to this rumor.
The drive-throughs are not really available anymore. Too much fraud was associated with drive-throughs. And Chase wants you to come inside and listen to the banker’s sales pitch.
But there’s less chance of something going terribly wrong when you deposit in the branch. At least there’s a human teller to fix the scanner’s mistakes. Or explain check holds. Or get the transaction reversed and the check back in your hands if you don’t like what you hear.
Otherwise, you are at the mercy of the ATM’s scanner. If it mis-reads a check and you submit a correction, someone at Chase (probably India) has to review the deposit. You have no control over what happens at that point.
It’s far better to do it inside the branch where you can immediately double-check the work yourself and know where you stand.

Given their recent fiasco with a check written with red ink, I don’t think they have ANYONE reviewing deposits, otherwise they would have noticed that the check incorrectly showed up as blank because of red ink, not because fraud was involved, and they would not have closed the customers account.

I cant believe when i come to the drive thru there is nobody there so someone has to come from inside pick up the depositand go inside with it now it takes a lot longer because it is only 1 person doing all the deposits insightis one teller for both.and I know this because I asked the lady why it’s taking so long and she said well sorry but I have to be running back and forth because I’m the only one working as a teller
